Yasser Abdelrahman is a Biomechanical Analyst and Accident Reconstructionist with Aperture. He leverages his profound understanding of engineering principles and the laws of physics to analyze accidents and dissect the biomechanical mechanisms at play. Yasser has completed certifications for crash data retrieval and is working towards future studies such as human factors, photogrammetry, and stimulatory reconstruction as he enhances and expands his existing foundations.   

In 2023 Yasser earned his Master of Science in Bioengineering from the University of California, San Diego. His research focused on studying hindlimb biomechanics and developing a three-dimensional musculoskeletal model to study kinematics and kinetics at the muscle and joint level. Additionally, Yasser obtained his Bachelor of science in bioengineering from the University of California, San Diego in 2021.

Human Performance Alliance, Cardiac Mechanics Research Group, July 2021 – August 2023, Graduate Researcher

  • Worked in the cardiac mechanics research group under the Wu Tsai Human performance project.
  • Analyzed musculoskeletal biomechanics and generated computational models to answer questions which can’t be studied in-vivo.
  • Skills ranged from collecting experimental data, muscle architecture, mechanical design of performance rigs, computational 3D modeling in OpenSim, MATLAB coding, and tissue/anatomy segmentation using Mimics.

University of California, San Diego, September 2021 – June 2022, Instructional Assistant

  • Instructed undergraduate courses in Musculoskeletal Biomechanics, Soft tissue biomechanics and Fluid and Cell Biomechanics.

  • Design and implementation of a biomechanics study configuration to feed a work-for-food paradigm with a focus on observing musculoskeletal, molecular, and biomechanical changes in rodent after training.

  • Development and prototyping of novel prosthetic feedback device to create better prosthetic control and embodiment. Creation of reconfigurable mechanical glove design and electronic circuit for auditory feedback systems.
