Michael Jorgensen has been a Forensic Engineer with Aperture (formerly American Bio Engineers) since 2015 and in a full-time capacity since 2019. In his time with Aperture, Michael has attended numerous accident reconstruction classes, participated in many instrumented crash tests, and has published multiple times with the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).

A Las Vegas native, Michael attended Northwest Career and Technical Academy and graduated with an Advanced Honors diploma with a focus in Engineering & Design. He went on to attend the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where, in 2019, he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. For his senior design project at UNLV, Michael leveraged his unique background with robotics and programming to design and fabricate a crash sled to simulate minor impacts without the need to destroy donor vehicles.

Thanks to his work at Aperture, Michael found interest in biomechanics and joined the Biomedical Engineering Department at Wayne State University in 2023. Michael looks forward to working with the department’s well respected injury biomechanics research facilities. He anticipates graduating with a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering, under the Injury Biomechanics Track, in 2025.

Michael is currently a member of the SAE, Southwestern Association of Technical Accident Investigators (SATAI), California Association of Accident Reconstruction Specialists (CA2RS), and is a certified Engineer Intern by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. He also obtained a Remote Pilot Certificate from the FAA for commercial use of small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS). Michael spends some of his free time volunteering as a mentor to high school FIRST Robotics teams; he hopes to share his passion for robotics, programming, and engineering with future generations.
