Joe Kasselik is a Forensic Engineer with Aperture (formerly Biomechanical Research & Testing). Joe has been with Aperture since July 2020 and has worked on a wide variety of projects involving accident reconstruction and biomechanics, has attended several accident reconstruction conferences, and has completed courses in accident reconstruction, human factors, crash data retrieval, anthropomorphic modeling, and collision simulation software. Joe has extensive training and experience in instrumented anthropomorphic testing and vehicle crash testing. He is proficient in conducting vehicle and scene inspections, generating simulations, EDR imaging and analysis, and biomechanical analysis.

Joe possesses a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Biomedical Engineering and a minor in Economics from the University of Colorado, Boulder. He holds credits for completed courses from the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety (NUCPS): Crash Investigation, Vehicle Dynamics, Accident Reconstruction I and Accident Reconstruction II. He is an accredited accident reconstructionist through the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction (ACTAR).

Joe is a proficient user of the FARO 3D laser scanner, Artec Ray II scanner and Artec Leo 3D hand scanner. He is proficient with mathematical computation software such as Engineering Dynamics Corporation’s Human Vehicle Environment (HVE), EOS Systems Inc.’s PhotoModeler, DSP Development Corporation’s DADiSP, and Autodesk CAD programs including AutoCAD, Inventor and 3DS Max. He is a member of the Southwestern Association of Technical Accident Investigators (SATAI) and Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).
