Forensic Engineer - Accident Reconstruction

Scott Swinford is a fully-accredited Accident Reconstructionist and Forensic Engineer with Aperture (formerly American Bio Engineers). Scott is accredited through the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction (ACTAR). Working in the field of accident reconstruction since 2011, Scott has attended several accident reconstruction conferences and completed courses in human factors, crash data retrieval, heavy vehicle event data recorders, infotainment systems, collision simulation software, and traffic signal operation during that time.

In 2012, Scott earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering In Cursu Honorum from the University of Nevada, Reno. He also completed minors in mathematics, renewable energy, and entrepreneurship. During his career, Scott has participated in several instrumented crash tests as both a vehicle occupant and test coordinator for conferences, case work, and research purposes. He has also been an author on multiple peer-reviewed technical papers published by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). His areas of specialty include accident reconstruction, event data recorder (EDR) downloads and analysis, and traffic signal timing chart analysis.

Scott is a proficient user of the FARO 3D Laser Scanner and software such as Human Vehicle Environment (HVE), Photomodeler, and AutoCAD. He holds a certification from the FAA that allows him to remotely pilot small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS). He is also a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and the Southwestern Association of Technical Accident Investigators (SATAI).
