Forensic Engineer - Accident Reconstruction
Sam Wood joined Aperture (formerly Scientific Analysis Inc.) in 2016 as an Accident Reconstructionist. Sam has investigated and reconstructed accidents involving passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, pedestrians, workplace injuries, and product liability. He has experience working for clients on both the plaintiff and defense sides of litigation. His responsibilities include the inspection of vehicles and scenes to gather evidence, including downloading event data recorder (EDR) systems from passenger and heavy vehicles, analysis of collected data, creation of exhibits related to the reconstruction of accidents, report writing, and testimony.
Sam holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in engineering management and entrepreneurship from Southern Methodist University. He is a fully-accredited traffic accident reconstructionist through the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction (ACTAR), a certified Bosch Full CDR Technician, and a certified remote pilot of small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS) through the FAA. His is a current member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). Sam holds a license as a Texas Department of Public Safety Private Investigator.
